Bus Cap Focuses on Efficiency Gains and Malaysia–Singapore Market Growth Post IPO

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 – Following its successful debut on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market, Bus Cap Berhad Executive Director Bernard Ng Chong Yan addressed key questions from the press, focusing on the company’s post-IPO strategy, efficiency improvements, and regional market focus.

Responding to questions on whether the company expects margin improvements following its shift toward semi-automation, Bernard said Bus Cap is prioritising operational efficiency and production output rather than focusing purely on margin expansion.

“If you are talking about margin, we are not looking at margin alone,” he explained. “Once we implement the semi-automated line, we are focused on improving efficiency in production. That will naturally improve output and overall performance.”

He added that the introduction of semi-automated manufacturing is expected to enhance production capacity and overall operational performance, enabling the company to deliver better output levels and strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness.

When asked about potential expansion into new markets beyond Malaysia and Singapore, Bernard said the company will continue to concentrate on its core regional markets for now.

“For the moment, we will still focus on domestic and Singapore,” he said. “These two markets are already large enough for us to absorb and grow our market share.”

His comments underscore Bus Cap’s near-term strategy of strengthening its foothold in established markets while improving internal efficiency through automation-driven upgrades funded by its IPO proceeds.

The company recently raised funds through its listing on Bursa Malaysia to support expansion plans, including the development of a new manufacturing facility and semi-automated production lines aimed at increasing output capacity and operational effectiveness.

Bus Cap’s debut attracted strong investor interest, with its IPO oversubscribed by 72.24 times, reflecting robust market confidence in its long-term growth prospects within the regional bus manufacturing sector.
