KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 – Bus Cap Berhad’s debut on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market marked more than a listing milestone—it signaled the beginning of a new growth phase for the Malaysian bus manufacturer as management outlined ambitious expansion plans backed by fresh capital and stronger operational capabilities.
Addressing guests during the listing ceremony, Executive Director Bernard Ng Chong Yan described the occasion as both a proud and emotional moment for the company, emphasizing that Bus Cap’s journey was built through years of perseverance, partnerships, and collective effort.
“As we stand here on our first day as a listed company, I am reminded that this journey did not begin in a boardroom, nor did it begin with an IPO,” he said, while expressing appreciation to employees, customers, suppliers, advisers, regulators, shareholders, and supporters who contributed to the company’s growth journey.
Bernard stressed that the ACE Market debut should not be viewed as the finish line but rather the beginning of a more demanding chapter.
“The real work begins after the gong,” he said.
The company plans to utilise IPO proceeds to strengthen manufacturing capabilities through investments in a new production facility, semi-automated fabrication technologies, and broader operational enhancements aimed at improving efficiency and competitiveness.
According to Bernard, these investments are not merely designed to increase output capacity but to transform Bus Cap into a smarter, more efficient, and future-ready manufacturing business.
He acknowledged that expectations would increase significantly as a listed company, with shareholders demanding stronger performance, customers expecting continued innovation, and employees looking for greater opportunities.
“Accountability creates excellence,” Bernard said, adding that Bus Cap welcomes the higher expectations that come with public market participation.
Looking ahead, Bus Cap intends to focus on sustainable growth, long-term shareholder value creation, and strengthening Malaysia’s manufacturing ecosystem through closer integration between manufacturing, mobility, and technology.
Bernard concluded by reiterating that Bus Cap’s long-term ambition extends beyond building buses.
“We aspire to build a company Malaysians can be proud of,” he said, adding that execution, innovation, and value creation will ultimately define the company’s next chapter.
